Devayani Khobragade was stripped and strip- searched and cavity-searched by the American government. Stripping a woman is sexual assault. Cavity searching a woman is penetrating and searching the cavities of a woman's body. This is rape by definition.
Rape and sexual assault whether done by American human hands or American gizmos is still sexual assault and rape. But idiots at home and abroad chose to derail and sidetrack the arguments by making Devayani's character (in not paying her babysitter as handsomely as the US or New York Government wanted her to pay) the issue and not her being subjected to sexual assault and rape. This is akin to saying scantily dressed women and prostitutes deserve to be sexually assaulted and raped. Are all Western white women charged with civil (mind you,
not criminal offense) code violations subjected to such crude treatment of rape
by the Government in the US? If not, does this treatment sound like a racist
assault on a brown skinned woman who has diplomatic immunity. There should have been mass outrage among the Indian American community when another Indian American stooge (NY Attorney) of the racists was made an instrument to inflict and justify such rape of a brown skinned diplomat demeaning all Indian women openly in the US, violating their dignity.
My dearly beloveds in the media must explain their silence. Modi government must explain its unwillingness to make America pay for this injustice. But, Modi instead chose to separate Barack from America. Barack forgot what kind of immoral and unjust discriminating America he represents when in the very next
week after return to his home country he chose his pulpit to preach morality to
Indians.

Today's news is Purvi Patel (another brown skinned Indian woman) has been given a thirty year sentence by the American government for choosing to terminate her pregnancy. Remember Dasvitha Halappanavar (Indian girl) who died because Ireland chose to be Catholic Christian and refused to abort her child in a complicated pregnancy and chose instead to kill the mother.
Three of the nastiest women I know are all American - Robin Raphael, Hilarious Clinton and Madeline Albright. Clinton and ALbright's NGOs went to town in America over Nirbhaya's rapist porno-documentary and their House of representatives tabled resolution on dalit rights in India.
So where is Clinton's-Albright's outrage over Khobragade and Purvi Patel? Is it okay to strip search and cavity search unjustly Indian non-criminal women? Is it okay to sentence an Indian woman to a life in prison because she chose to have an abortion (prohibited by pro-life politicians) violating her own rights? She carried out her own abortion and threw the foetus in a garbage bin. I actually see terrible desperation here and fear in this miserable oppressed woman and not defiance of the law as the primary motive. This is akin to imprisoning people for trying to commit suicide.
India has done away with this law where abortion is treated with

more scientific and medical view-point than just Catholic Republican antiquated dogmatic oppression of women and women's rights. Pro-life is fine, but not at the cost of mothers' lives, and loss of freedom and dignity for women.
The oldest democracy of the US has "yugas" to go before it becomes even minimally moral and compassionate as a society to recognize the dignity and freedom of women, notwithstanding the lip-sservice by American women political leaders. Maybe Indians settled in America instead of writing theses about caste and how we should view our own elections should first focus on protecting Indian women from American law. RR
