Someone doesn't even know where Congress works (Image: Aulani Kaaihue's Facebook)
Last night, the deep blue progressive state of Hawaii held its primaries, the most exciting races happened on the Democratic side, as many Democrats were fighting to see who would represent the party in the general election. However, the most shocking race happened on the Republican side as an egotistical, despicable, sadistic excuse for a human being prevailed over her opponent, Eric Hafner, 55.8% to 44.2% to represent the HAWAII REPUBLICAN PARTY as their nominee for Congress against Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard.
Miss Angela Aulani Kaaihue describes herself as a “developer,” and originally ran for Mayor of Honolulu and both the congressional districts in Hawaii, but settled for congressional district 2. Her original goal was to face Congressman Mark Takai, who lost his battle to cancer on July 20, 2016, and announced that he was not seeking re-election in May. Normally, a candidate runs against an incumbent because they think they can bring change, have fresh ideas, or they just want to be a politician, not Kaaihue, Kaaihue ran against Congressman Takai because she believes that the Congressman was responsible for bringing a real estate lawsuit against her. The real estate lawsuit was filed by Kaaihue against Newtown Association who prevented her from building a home for her family, and has been going on for five years. What does this have to do with Congressman Takai? I don’t know.

It gets worse, Miss Kaaihue is a proud Religious Bigot. Kaaihue is a dominionist politician, who believes that the country should be run by Christians and only Christians. Of course you would ask “did she even go to school?” good question, I don't know, but if she did, she probably skipped history.

Now, if you think that was disturbing, grab a stress ball because it gets worse. It was no secret in our state that Congressman Takai was battling pancreatic cancer, the normal human thing to do would be to sympathize, and not ridicule him for having cancer. Right? Yes, but someone didn’t teach that to Kaaihue. Kaaihue has spent time and hours canvassing the state with distasteful posters targeting Takai. To be fair, Kaaihue was given a chance to clarify her controversial technique, stating that she’s proud that she does not have cancer, and that more people should be proud that they don't have cancer.

I am absolutely not worried about Aulani Kaaihue posing a threat to Congresswoman Gabbard. I’m sure that Gabbard will destroy her. The greater question is: how did she win her primary? It is no secret that this year is the year of outsider candidates, but does personal issues, religious bigotry, and ridiculing a man with cancer qualify you as an outsider candidate? But, a better question is: whether Miss Kaaihue represents the majority of the Hawaii GOP? Will the Hawaii GOP be quick to disavow her? Will they endorse Congresswoman Gabbard, and put country before party?
Kaaihue now carries the same banner as other Republican state officials: Feki Pouha, Andria Tupola, Bob McDermott, Charles Djou, Sam Slom, Gene Ward, Rod Tam, and other officials. To be fair, the Republican Party Chair Fritz Rohlfing has already came out and condemned her antics, but the Republican members who voted in the primaries seem to love it.
Hawaii has always been about the Aloha spirit and prides itself as the melting pot for people of all creeds. With Miss Kaaihue’s recent victory in the Republican primary, the next move shall be on the shoulders of the Hawaii Republican Party. They will have to decide whether they will dump Kaaihue as a candidate, and if they don’t, Hawaii will have to decide whether they should dump the Hawaii Republican party as a whole.
